Alison is an independent consultant, following eight years as Co-Director at the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities.
"Her particular interests include promoting better health and access to health services for people with learning disabilities, working with the criminal justice system to improve opportunities and support for people with learning disabilities who offend, and supporting 'partnership with purpose' between all those who can collaborate to improve life chances for people with learning disabilities and family carers. She has gained a wide range of project management and consultancy experience in these fields over the last 24 years.
Alison joined the Foundation from the Institute for Applied Health & Social Policy at King's College London. Previously she worked in the NHS in both commissioning and Trust roles, supporting the development of joint commissioning and person centred services for people with learning disabilities and involving people with learning disabilities and family carers in this. She was seconded part time for three years to the Valuing People Support Team as Regional Adviser for the West Midlands.
Alison is a member of the Advisory Board for the Tizard Learning Disability Review and a lay reviewer for the National Institute for Health Research."
