Helen is an independent consultant who has over 30 years’ experience working in a range of roles to support people

Previous roles have included working as a clinical nurse specialist (RMN), working as an area manager (for MIND and Mencap Homes Foundation) and has 17 years’ experience as a commissioner of learning disability services across health and social care.

Having held national senior policy roles for both the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and the Local Government Association (LGA), Helen has supported both the development and implementation of national policy.

She believes in supporting systems to ensure that human rights are upheld for everyone.

Within the legal system she was an expert witness in several successful tribunals to support the Care Quality Commission to challenge the development of institutional services. She also sat on the review panel for the Confidential Inquiry into the premature deaths of people who have a learning disability (CIPOLD) and later on the national mortality review steering group (LeDeR).

Helen holds an MBA. She currently provides ongoing support to several organisations as a consultant.
