Janet has worked in social care for more than 30 years, supporting autistic people and people with learning disabilities to be actively engaged in designing their support and living the life they choose. She has recently joined NDTi, undertaking work to support the Equal Lives programme.
Janet qualified as a social worker in 1993 and has undertaken a variety of roles in local authorities, NHS and charitable organisations to include direct support provision, operational management, performance management, quality assurance, policy development, staff training, coaching and mentoring. She currently works with a charity supporting autistic people and people with learning disabilities across the South West of England, involved in policy development and quality improvement. Her understanding of the reality of delivering front-line support in challenging times enables balanced but creative aspirations about what is possible.
With a particular interest and passion for person-centred approaches, Janet has developed tools for support planning, risk assessment and personal outcomes planning, ensuring that the individual’s strengths and personality shine through everything that is written with and about them.
