Kate is an experienced local authority social care commissioner and leader with a deep interest in community-led support and person-centred approaches.
She brings together her experiences of place based working and strategic commissioning with her understanding of operational social work and the voluntary and community sector. Her recent experience includes commissioning community-based, voluntary sector-delivered preventative and early help activity integral to local models of preventative working and social prescribing. She has also led the local transformation of daytime activities for adults living with learning disabilities and different approaches to commissioning this support.
She has led teams that supported community reassurance during the recent pandemic and went on to work with communities to address some of the challenges that have been brought into sharp focus - isolation, poor mental health, worsening of long-term conditions and people feeling disconnected from sources of support.
She is continually curious about the outdoors, creativity and friendship having a positive impact on health and wellbeing and has a holistic understanding of communities and their resilience to overcome historic and contemporary issues.
