Jim Thomas

Jim Thomas brings over 40 years of experience in social care and health to NDTi’s Board.

Originally trained as a nurse, Jim has held various roles, including DHSC Valuing People’s workforce advisor and head of workforce innovation at Skills for Care. His career has focused on partnership working and empowering individuals, from setting up community playgroups for children with disabilities to supporting self-advocacy businesses for people with learning disabilities.

Jim has developed workforce policy and practice at local, regional, and national levels, addressing workforce strategy, commissioning, and productivity. Since retiring, he continues to support social care workforce issues in local government. Jim values collaboration and creating impactful change.

Outside of his professional life, he runs a music management company, enjoys cycling, and spends time with his grandchildren, who have introduced him to Minecraft. Jim is committed to ensuring that everyone’s voice and experience matter, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment at NDTi.
