Small Support organisations are being set up in different parts of the country; if you have been directed to this page, you are likely living in one of those areas:
- Lancashire
- Leeds
- Bradford
- Birmingham and Solihull
- Black Country
- Cornwall
- Wiltshire
- Norfolk
Work to set up new organisations is at different stages in each area and if you would like to find out more then please email: smallsupports@ndti.org.uk
Who do Small Support organisations actually support?
- People with learning disabilities, autistic people, including those with enduring mental health support needs who have been admitted to or are at risk of being admitted to an in-patient hospital
Please read the information below, and if you think your family member may benefit from support from a Small Support organisation and they would fall into the group of people we work with, then please get in touch.
What is a Small Support organisation?
- A small local support organisation that has made a commitment to staying small and local.
- An organisation that works in a completely person-centred way, where any compromise on what works and doesn’t work for the person is deemed as a first step to failure.
- An organisation that will not walk away from a person however difficult it may be at times, unless the person and the organisation agree to end the relationship.
- An organisation that builds strong and sustaining relationships between the support staff and the person, and as a small organisation, everyone knows everyone.
- An organisation that provides support - not housing. This is ‘supported living’ not residential care.
What does it mean to be supported by a small support organisation?
Please note: Small Supports only work within their local area; they are not national organisations and do not have the ambition to become national organisations.
