Change that leads to better lives

Free training workshops run by young people

We are the NDTi Training Squad, a group of young people who have things to say about what practitioners who work with young people should know.

  • Are you working to support young people with additional support needs?
  • Would you like to learn from young people who have important views to share about inclusion?
  • Whether you work in education, health, social care, advocacy or other work with young people this training can help you learn and be inspired.

Places are free for this online training, but limited to 20 people per session. Early booking is recommended.

This is new work so we need people who are prepared to let us practice, listen and talk about the questions we ask.

Background to the coproduced training

Since 2020 NDTi has been delivering a Lottery funded programme called Time to Talk Next Steps. This is a support programme for young people with additonal support needs who have felt isolated following the COVID-19 pandemic and are unsure about their future plans.

Trained supporters meet young people online for one to one support sessions and provide tailored support to build confidence and motivation. Some young people go on from this to take an active role in running aspects of the project including peer support, developing training and advising on programme design.

As part of this work a small group of young people have worked with NDTi associates Jon Ralphs and Barry Jones to design training for practitioners. It brings together their views on the best approaches for effective and inclusive practice with young people. The group have worked collaboratively over six months to formulate this training, bringing their individual ideas and super strengths. These training workshops are the culmination of their work.

Each workshop is 45 minutes long and requires attendees to be open to listen, learn, interact and reflect. We hope you can join us on this exciting new coproduced project.
