Change that leads to better lives

Training workshops run by young people

We are a group of young people and we have things to say about what practitioners who work with other young people should know.

  • Are you working to support young people with additional support needs?
  • Would you like to learn from young people who have important views to share about inclusion?
  • Whether you work in education, health, social care, advocacy or other work with young people this training can help you learn and be inspired.

We will meet you to find out what would be most helpful for your area. Here are some examples of some online sessions we designed and ran in the past.

  • Session 1: You need to start with values
  • Session 2: You need to see us as young people first
  • Session 3: You need to listen to help us make choices
  • Session 4: You need to be curious, to understand

Each 45 minute workshop was delivered online and included interactive exercises to encourage participants to listen and reflect.

Background

This work originated from Time to Talk Next Steps, a support programme for young people with additional support needs who were isolated and unsure about their future plans.

As part of this work a small group of young people designed training for practitioners. It brings together their views on the best approaches for effective and inclusive practice with young people.
