What's the difference?
A CTR is a Care and Treatment Review for adults. It is designed for people aged over 18 years old.
A C(E)TR is a Care Education and Treatment Review for children and young people.
They are for people who are:
autistic or have a learning disability (or both).
in hospital or are at risk of being admitted to hospital.
What's the purpose?
The purpose of Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews is to make sure that:
Individuals who are at risk of being admitted into mental health hospitals are getting the right care, education and treatment to avoid the need for an admission.
Admissions happen for the right reasons.
Individuals who are staying in a mental health hospital are receiving the right care, education and treatment and that there is a plan in place to support them to leave hospital as soon as possible.
The Care (Education) and Treatment Review asks six key questions:
Are they safe?
What is their current care like?
What is their daily life like?
Are their physical health needs being met?
Is there a plan in place for their future?
Do they need to be in hospital for their care and treatment?
