Call for stories: Innovative day and work opportunities for people with learning disabilities
We’d love to hear more about the fantastic work you’re doing to enable people with learning disabilities to find and stay in paid employment.
We know there’s a huge amount of innovative work you’re doing across the UK, but we don’t always get to hear about it.
We want to find and share these stories of innovation so others can learn from them. We are particularly interested in stories from across Wales, but would love to hear from you wherever you are in the UK.
About the project
This call for evidence will inform advisory work the British Association of Supported Employment (BASE) and NDTi are doing for North Wales Together.

What we're looking for
We want to hear about different and creative ways to create work and day opportunities. These ideas should be person centred and help people:
- have paid jobs,
- be part of their communities, and
- be more independent.
We also want to know about your work to help people who need more complex support to feel healthy and happy.
We're really interested in hearing about examples where local authorities have helped with direct payments.
We also want to talk to link workers and organisations that support people through social prescribing.
How we'll use your stories
The views and ideas gathered will inform the priorities and recommendations in the North Wales Together ‘employment roadmap’.
Important areas we're studying:
- Rural areas
- Those with significant and profound learning disabilities
- Areas with minimal employment opportunities on the open market
- New services with inexperienced staff teams
- Transformed services
