Paul from My Life My Choice shares his experiences of being part of a number of different communities and the positive impacts of making a difference to other people's lives.
My name is Paul and I am a Vice-Chair of My Life My Choice. |

The pandemic has been very hard on people as I’m sure you will know. |
There have been lots of things people have done to keep themselves entertained and happy. |
Some have been doing diamond art like me. |
Others have gotten back in touch with old and new friends, families and communities. My blog is about this. |
An old but great community I have been a part of is my local Neighbourhood Watch scheme. |
I have been working with them to keep my local area and people safe. |
My brother is also part of the scheme. |
Another community I have been involved in is the community of a self-advocacy charity called My Life My Choice. |
I have supported their young people do a litter pick to help clean-up the local area. |
I have taken part in their Police Forum along with other members to support those with learning disabilities report things to the police. |
I have also helped with packing and delivering a monthly mailout to all of their members. |
A new community I have joined is the Church. |
I’ve gone to their gatherings and have met lots of new people. |
The Church and I have helped other people too, like the homeless. |
I have enjoyed being part of these communities. |
They have helped me grow. |
They have helped me keep calm. |
They’ve helped me learn new skills. |
They have also given me the chance to help others. |
I also like to think: if you don’t try it, you won’t know how great it can be. Please take this away from my blog! |
