Change that leads to better lives

What matters to Tanzie

We caught up with Tanzie who was supported by our Time to Talk Next Steps programme.

Tanzie met us with help from her mum. She and her mum wanted to build her confidence and make plans for her future as she moved forward into adult life. She was offered personalised support through Time to Talk Next Steps including meeting other young people through the peer support group.

When she started Tanzie was very shy. She relied on her mum to speak for her. Over the course of six weeks Tanzie met with her NDTi supporter weekly online. She enjoyed sharing her interests and after four sessions she asked to meet her supporter without her mum. This was a big step.

Tanzie used her sessions to talk about her great passion for animals and her aim to become more independent. She wanted to get a job and to move out one day to live with her friend. She did a personal profile to help with her transition from school to college. However, in keeping with her love of YouTube videos, Tanzie decided to make this video to help convey her bubbly and lively personality to new people.

Tanzie used this video to show to an employer and was successful in getting a Saturday job in a large retail store which she loves. She has won regional employee of the month twice and she is codesigning training for professionals with other young people at NDTi.
