Emmas Views on Preparing for Adulthood

Hi my name is Emma,

This is my view on preparing for adulthood.

The education system needs to include in the educational programme more on budgeting and independent skills, so that younger people are prepared more for adulthood.

As a young disabled person I felt that I didn’t get many opportunities to explore society / my local community due to peoples perceptions of what the school would look like taking disabled children out and about.

Mainstream schools need to include in their educational programme more around disability awareness. They could use the disability awareness month to promote this more and invite people to come in and talk about different disabilities and their experiences.
