Dr Moyse used a type of free-form timeline (from a design by Majid, 2021) with the participants in her study. This enabled each girl to record the events and experiences from her school years that were of most significance to her.
Dr Moyse produced questions for each individual based on their own chart, which the girls received before the interviews. These timelines, or life charts, facilitated conversation, thematic analysis by the girls and the co-production of knowledge based on recommendations drawn from their own experiences. A template and example life chart are provided here, together with FAQs for a young person and brief guidance for an adult who may wish to use the technique. Please contact Dr Moyse directly if you wish to discuss the process in more detail.
